The Final Four Goebel Figures - DIS 108 Dodo Ashtray

The first of the Final Four is DIS 108, the Dodo ashtray.

As with the previously posted DIS 106, this is merely the Dodo figure from DIS 66 applied to a standard ashtray base.  This same base was used on many different ashtrays in the Goebel line.  Gotta love the 1950s when everybody smoked, when a Disney-themed ashtray was a good idea.

I tend to think of Goebel figures as being rather muted in color. Lots of browns, perhaps highlighted with the orangey-red that you see a lot. This yellow Dodo is pretty crazy!

Indeed, it is pretty vivid. I think that is probably due to a couple of reasons: 1) They did so many damn Bambi figures that all anyone thinks of is brown, and 2) age and fading. All colors fade with time, and most Goebels found in the wild have been on display in someone's house for 60+ years. These last 4 are special, which I'll talk about in the final post.
